Large earthenware Spectra bowl/ wall hanging with sea flora decoration designed by Anna-Lisa Thomson (1905-1952) for Upsala-Ekeby, Sweden. The Spedtra series was produced from 1951-62. Signed on the back: 1067 UE SWEDEN. Measures: 14 x 9 1/4 x 2 i 3/4 inches (36 x 23.5 x 7 cm) Excellent condition.
Anne-Lisa Thomson was born in 1905. she studied art at the Art and Design School and at several locations abroad. Between 1928-33 she was employed at S: t Eriks Lervarufabriker, where she in the years 1930-33 designed most of the St. Erik's collection. In 1933 she was employed by Upsala-Ekeby, where she remained until her death in 1952. She was inspired by the shapes of nature - flowers, shells, and sea plants are examples, which are seen in the series Spectra and Paprika. Her work was included in the UE's price lists during the 50s and 60s, a proof of her sense of form and strong design.
